National ABI Lead – Home-Based – Neuro-Psychologist

Home-Based with national travel

Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 + £3,600 Car Allowance

Remit

Compass Associates are proudly working with a national provider of specialist learning disability, mental health and neuro rehab services, to recruit an experienced Neuropsychologist to join them as their National Lead for Acquired Brain Injuries.

This newly created role, is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Neuropsychologist/Clinical Psychologist, as you will provide psychological oversight for the specialist residential and respite services which support adults with backgrounds of acquired/traumatic brain injuries. Service users may have physical disabilities, cognitive functioning difficulties and behavioural, psychological or emotional needs due to backgrounds of brain injuries, stroke, neuro-progressive conditions or alcohol related brain injuries.

All services have access to NHS Community Therapy Teams (Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses and Speech & Language Therapists) so you will not hold a regular clinical caseload. This is a unique role where you will provide specialist advice internally around neuro-psychological assessments, support and care plans, to enhance the statutory provisions that are already in place, but there may be occasions where you need to visit services to meet with service users, staff or families. Your role will involve creating clinical strategies, policies, procedures and delivering training on areas including risk assessments, trauma-informed care and the Mental Health & Capacity Acts.

This newly created clinical leadership team will provide expertise to Registered Managers, Operations Teams and Care Staff, so they have the therapeutic/psychological knowledge and skills to best support the service users. You will work alongside your counterparts (also new roles) of a Lead SALT, Lead Nurses (Mental Health and Learning Disabilities), Safeguarding Lead and Lead Speech & Language Therapist, who all report into the Associate Clinical Director for Adult Services.

Location/Travel

As there are large clusters of services in the North West and Yorkshire regions, the successful candidate would ideally be based in and around the Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and Derby areas. However, candidates located anywhere in England/Wales will be considered as long as you’re willing to travel as required.

Candidate

The successful candidate must have:

  • A Doctorate level Degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience working with adults who have complex needs and challenging behaviours due to backgrounds of brain injuries
  • UK driving licence and access to own car

Interview Process

Informal teams call with the Associate Clinical Director, followed by a formal interview via Teams.
