The Role

 

This is a rewarding Emergency and Critical Care position within a busy veterinary hospital, managing both emergency presentations and the ongoing care of hospitalised patients overnight.

 

You'll enjoy a high degree of clinical autonomy while benefiting from excellent nursing support and a collaborative hospital environment.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Managing emergency and out-of-hours consultations
  • Caring for hospitalised medical and surgical patients
  • Performing emergency surgical procedures where required
  • Working alongside experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurses
  • Utilising advanced diagnostic equipment to investigate complex cases
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and patient handovers
  • Providing compassionate communication to clients during emergency situations
  • Delivering exceptional patient care throughout every stage of treatment

Working Pattern

  • Annualised hours contract
  • Average 33.1 hours per week
  • 7 nights on
  • 14 nights off

This rota provides an outstanding work-life balance, allowing significant periods of time away from work between working blocks.

 

 

The Individual

  • MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon
  • Previous Emergency and Critical Care experience
  • Confident managing emergency and inpatient cases overnight
  • Comfortable with sole-charge clinical decision-making
  • ECC certificate holders welcomed
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Collaborative approach and commitment to high clinical standards
