Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Clinic

Up to £55,000 DOE + CPD support

Full-time & Part-time | Permanent
Solihull, Birmingham

Are you a Veterinary Surgeon looking for something a little different from a traditional first-opinion practice?
Would you enjoy a varied caseload combining private-client work with charity and shelter medicine?
Looking for a supportive team, no OOH and the flexibility to work full-time or part-time?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join an independent, charity-owned veterinary clinic in Solihull.

This is a genuinely varied first-opinion role, combining private-client consultations and surgery with veterinary care for animals within the charity's rehoming centres.

You'll be joining a welcoming team where you can remain clinically involved across a broad caseload, while making a meaningful difference to animals in need.

The Role

This is an all-round Veterinary Surgeon position, with flexibility for someone who has either a consultation or surgical bias. Ideally, you'll enjoy a mixture of both.

Your role will include some of the following depending on biases:

  • Consulting with private clients and their pets

  • Performing routine and more advanced first-opinion surgery

  • Providing veterinary care to shelter animals

  • Managing medical work-ups and treatment plans

  • Supporting dental cases and other routine procedures

  • Working collaboratively with the nursing and wider clinic team

  • Providing occasional shelter consultations

The Clinical Caseload

The clinic provides first-opinion small-animal care for both private clients and the charity's animals.

The shelter currently has around 200 dogs, with ongoing intake of animals that may arrive without known medical histories. Cases can include dental disease, ear problems, cherry eye, entropion and routine preventative care.

Alongside the shelter work, the clinic has an established private-client caseload, with dogs and a growing number of cats.

The clinic also provides veterinary care for small furry animals belonging to a local college and works under contract with West Midlands Police.

The Practice

This is a purpose-built, independent veterinary clinic within a charitable organisation.

The clinic is well equipped with:

  • Operating theatre

  • Large preparation area

  • Three consultation rooms

  • Separate cat and dog recovery wards

  • Isolation facilities

  • Digital X-ray and ultrasound

  • Dedicated dental room with digital dental X-ray

  • In-house laboratory

  • Dedicated reception and clinical support areas

The Team & Culture

You'll be joining a small, dedicated team including Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Veterinary Care Assistant, reception and management support.

The practice is looking for someone who is positive, hardworking and comfortable working collaboratively, while also being able to make confident clinical decisions independently.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Vet who wants to work somewhere genuinely different, where their clinical skills directly contribute to both private-client care and the charity's work.
