An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Registered Veterinary Nurses to join a growing independent veterinary practice in North London.
This is a genuinely varied nursing opportunity within a small and supportive clinical team, where cases are managed from initial diagnostics through to surgery, recovery and aftercare wherever possible.
The practice is open to hearing from RVNs at different stages of their career. Whether you're an experienced nurse looking for exposure to a more advanced and varied caseload, or a developing RVN keen to build your confidence and clinical skills, the team are happy to discuss the opportunity with you.

The Practice
Established in 2022, this is a modern, independent small animal practice with a strong focus on providing high-quality, compassionate and individualised veterinary care.
Despite being a smaller clinic rather than a large hospital, the practice manages a broad and interesting caseload in-house. Wherever appropriate, patients are supported throughout their diagnostic, surgical and recovery journey by the same close-knit team, rather than routinely being transferred elsewhere.
The practice offers a combination of first-opinion and more advanced veterinary services, including:
First-opinion consultations and preventative healthcare
Soft tissue surgery
Orthopaedic procedures
Laparoscopic and keyhole surgery
Advanced ultrasound
Digital radiography
Dental procedures and dental radiography
In-house laboratory and diagnostic testing
Emergency and critical care
Advanced anaesthetic monitoring and patient support
CT and MRI cases are referred when required, but the team manage a wide range of medical and surgical cases in-house.
This creates an excellent environment for an RVN who enjoys variety and wants to be involved in cases from start to finish.
The Role
This is a hands-on nursing position where you'll have the opportunity to work across all areas of the practice.
Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Supporting Veterinary Surgeons with consultations and procedures
Preparing patients for routine and more advanced surgery
Assisting within theatre
Monitoring a varied range of anaesthetics
Supporting laparoscopic and orthopaedic procedures
Managing patient recovery and post-operative care
Supporting emergency and critical patients
Calculating and managing CRIs
Supporting blood transfusions where required
Assisting with diagnostic imaging and laboratory work
Monitoring inpatients and maintaining high standards of patient care
Providing advice and support to clients throughout their pet's treatment
For experienced nurses, there is plenty of opportunity to use and develop advanced clinical skills.
For nurses who may not yet have exposure to all of the equipment or procedures used within the practice, training and support can be provided. The team are keen to hear from confident and capable nurses who are willing to learn and develop.
The Caseload
One of the major attractions of this role is the variety of cases you'll be exposed to.
The practice manages everything from routine first-opinion work through to more complex surgical, diagnostic, emergency and critical cases.
Nurses may be involved in supporting patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic procedures and more complex anaesthetics, alongside emergency cases requiring close monitoring and intensive nursing support.
The practice is well equipped to manage its caseload, including advanced monitoring equipment and a ventilator.

The Team
You'll be joining a small and close-knit team currently consisting of Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Care Assistants.
The practice is now looking to grow its nursing team with two additional RVNs.
Because of the size of the practice, every member of the team plays an important role in the day-to-day running of the clinic. Nurses are trusted to use their clinical judgement, take ownership of their patients and work closely alongside the Veterinary Surgeons.
The team pride themselves on providing dedicated attention to individual patients and clients rather than operating as a high-volume practice.
This would suit someone who enjoys being part of a smaller team and wants to have a genuine impact on the care provided.
Working Pattern
Full-time position (Open to part-time applications
4-day working week available
Practice hours generally 9:00am–6:00pm
The Individual
The practice is open to applications from Registered Veterinary Nurses at different stages of their career.
You'll ideally be:
RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
Keen to be involved in a varied and hands-on clinical role
Interested in developing your nursing skills
Comfortable working as part of a small and collaborative team
Able to remain calm and organised in a busy clinical environment
Interested in areas such as surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostics or ECC
A quick learner with a positive and proactive approach
Previous experience with advanced equipment, complex anaesthesia or emergency and critical care would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.
The practice is happy to provide training to nurses who are experienced in practice and keen to develop into new areas.
