Architectural Technician - Social Care Provider
Location: Remote / Hybrid / Regional, with national travel as required
Salary: £35,000–£45,000
Are you an experienced architectural technician or draftsperson looking for the chance to work on a varied portfolio of care and education developments?
We are supporting an established national specialist care and education provider as it develops new services, schools and properties, alongside acquisitions and refurbishment projects. As part of its growth programme, the organisation is looking to appoint a Draftsperson (Architectural Technician) to strengthen its in-house technical capability.
This is an opportunity to see your drawings contribute to real projects, from early feasibility and planning through to construction and handover.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Architect & Planning Lead, you will turn project briefs, concept layouts, surveys and design instructions into clear, accurate drawing packages. You will support several projects at different stages, coordinate information from consultants and help maintain consistent drawing standards and document control.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Producing and updating site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, schedules and construction details using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Preparing drawing packages for feasibility studies, planning submissions, building regulations, contractor pricing and construction.
- Amending designs in response to feedback from project teams, planning officers, building control and specialist consultants.
- Coordinating drawing information relating to structure, fire safety, accessibility, drainage and building services.
- Supporting measured surveys, site visits and the preparation of existing-condition drawings.
- Maintaining drawing registers, revision histories, version control and accurate technical records.
- Helping prepare construction updates, record drawings and as-built information at handover
About You
We’re looking for someone with practical experience producing accurate architectural or construction drawings and the confidence to work across multiple projects with different priorities.
You will bring:
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable CAD software.
- Experience preparing plans, elevations, sections, layouts or technical details in an architectural, construction, engineering or property setting.
- An understanding of drawing conventions, scales, dimensions, revisions and document control.
- The ability to interpret briefs, surveys, sketches and architect or consultant mark-ups.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
- A qualification in Architectural Technology, Construction or a related discipline would be advantageous, as would experience with planning or building regulations submissions, Revit/BIM, measured surveys or projects in care, education or healthcare.
Why Join?
- Join an established organisation investing in its development programme.
- Work on a varied mix of new services, schools, acquisitions and refurbishment projects.
- Help build technical drawing capability and consistent standards in-house.
- Work closely with an Architect & Planning Lead and a wider multidisciplinary project team.
- Contribute to safe, accessible and effective spaces for people receiving care and education.
