Salary: £46,250 Per Anum
Location: Exeter, Devon

Contract: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (Fully supernumerary)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Care Manager to provide strong leadership and support within a residential care home. You will act as a key point of contact in the absence of the General Manager, oversee residents’ needs, liaise with visiting healthcare professionals, and ensure high-quality, person-centred care is delivered at all times.

This is a fully supernumerary role, allowing you to focus on team leadership, compliance, and operational management without direct care duties. You will support staff development, maintain regulatory standards, and contribute to creating a positive culture for residents and staff alike.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Acting as the person in charge in the absence of the General Manager
• Participating in the on-call rota for out-of-hours management
• Ensuring residents’ needs are met and keeping families and relevant professional agencies informed
• Monitoring and managing PCS compliance
• Coaching and supporting team members to develop their care planning skills
• Overseeing ordering and administration of medication
• Assisting with interviews, investigations, and disciplinary matters as required
• Managing rotas and staffing to ensure an appropriate skill mix on each shift, maintaining the rota system
• Complying with statutory and legal requirements including HACCP, COSHH, Health & Safety, and Care Standards Act regulations

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior care role within a residential care setting

• Strong knowledge of care management, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• A friendly, approachable, and supportive leadership style

• Ability to work flexibly, problem-solve, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment

Location

The role is based in Exeter, easily commutable from Exmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Crediton, Cullompton, and surrounding Devon areas. The area offers good transport links, convenient road access, and a supportive local community.
