Compass Associates are proud to be working with a specialist provider of children’s residential care and education services to recruit a Clinical Lead for a specialist Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) service across the Shropshire region.

This is a newly created position where you’d play an instrumental role in shaping and developing the organisation’s specialist CSE clinical provision. The service supports children and young people who are at risk of, or have lived experience of, sexual exploitation, working across a number of residential homes and specialist education settings.

There is a strong focus on embedding a relational, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach across both clinical and operational teams.

Reporting into the National Lead for CSE, the successful candidate will initially take the lead for clinical provision across the Shropshire region, with plans to grow the local clinical team once the Clinical Lead is established in post.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Psychologist to not only provide clinical leadership, but to help shape and develop the regional service and build a team around them as the provision

grows.

Location

This is a hybrid role where you will be home-based then travel across the Shropshire region to visit the portfolio of residential homes and schools. Candidates can be based in areas including Shrewsbury, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford, Wrexham, Ludlow, Wolverhampton, Welshpool, Oswestry, Stafford, Whitchurch, Crewe, Birmingham and surrounding towns.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing clinical provision across the Shropshire region
• Supporting the growth and development of the local clinical team as the service expands
• Providing clinical leadership, line management and supervision
• Supporting the development and implementation of a relational, trauma-informed and strengths-based clinical model
• Leading psychologically informed assessments, formulations and clinical plans
• Overseeing specialist risk assessments and ensuring recommendations are effectively implemented
• Developing and supporting psychological interventions for young people
• Providing consultation and reflective practice to residential care and education teams
• Supporting clinical plans to be embedded within everyday practice across residential homes and schools
• Holding a small clinical caseload and providing direct work with young people where required
• Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the specialist CSE service
• Working collaboratively with the National Lead for CSE, regional colleagues, care and education teams, external professionals, families and wider systems surrounding the young person

Candidate criteria:

• Must be an HCPC registered Psychologist
• Doctorate level degree in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology
• Strong background working with children across residential, specialist education and/or CAMHS settings
• Previous experience working with children who have backgrounds of sexual exploitation would be beneficial
• Skills in formulation, consultation and multidisciplinary working
• Experience or interest in supervision, reflective practice and service development
• Trauma-informed approach to your practice
• UK driving license and own car

Interview process

Two stages: initial call with the Clinical Director or National Lead for CSE, followed by a formal interview via Teams.
