Salary: £45,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, Permanent – 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Supernumerary | Shared On-Call

Compass Associates are delighted to be supporting Exclusively with a well-established elderly care provider in the recruitment of a Deputy Manager for one of their Medium care homes in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager or senior care professional to join an established service and work closely alongside an experienced Registered Home Manager.

 

Supporting the Home Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operational leadership of the service, helping to maintain high standards across care delivery, governance, compliance, staff development and resident experience.

 

This is a non-clinical Deputy Manager position and would suit an experienced Deputy Manager, Care Manager or senior leader who enjoys being visible within a service, developing teams and driving standards.

 

The home provides care for older people, including those living with dementia and more complex care needs. With an experienced Home Manager providing leadership and direction, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their management career within a supportive environment.

 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous leadership experience within an elderly care home environment and a strong understanding of delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

 

You will be a confident and approachable leader who is comfortable managing teams, supporting staff development and addressing performance issues when required.

 

We are looking for someone who will be visible within the home, build strong relationships with residents, relatives and staff, and work collaboratively with the Registered Home Manager to ensure the service operates effectively.

 

Whilst this is a non-clinical position, candidates with a clinical background or previous Clinical Deputy Manager experience may also be considered, providing they are comfortable moving into a predominantly operational leadership position.

 

A strong understanding of dementia care, safeguarding, care planning, governance and CQC regulations is essential.

 

Requirements – Essential

  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Care Manager, Clinical Deputy Manager or Senior Leader within an elderly care environment.
  • Strong leadership and operational management experience.
  • Good understanding of CQC regulations and governance.
  • Experience supporting and developing care teams.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning and quality assurance.
  • Experience managing staff performance, supervision and development.
  • Confident managing challenging situations and difficult conversations.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Previous experience deputising for a Registered Home Manager.
  • Clinical or nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting CQC inspections and improvement plans.
  • Experience working within larger elderly care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Home Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the home.
  • Deputise for the Registered Home Manager when required.
  • Provide visible leadership and support across the service.
  • Lead, coach and develop senior carers and the wider care team.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
  • Support audits, governance processes and continuous quality improvement.
  • Oversee care planning, documentation and operational standards.
  • Support recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management.
  • Foster a positive culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Build effective relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the shared on-call management rota.

Interview Process

The recruitment process will consist of an initial telephone interview followed by a face-to-face interview with the senior leadership team.
