Deputy Manager – Elderly Nursing Home

Location: Hailsham, East Sussex
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Qualification: RGN with an active NMC PIN essential

 

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected elderly care provider who are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join their established nursing home in Hailsham, East Sussex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager, Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead or Senior Nurse with a strong background within elderly nursing care to take the next step in their career.

The successful candidate will be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with an active NMC PIN and will have significant experience working within an elderly care or nursing home environment.

 

The Role

Working closely with the Home Manager and wider management team, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and clinical management of the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visible leadership and support to the nursing and care teams.

  • Supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service.

  • Maintaining consistently high standards of person-centred elderly care.

  • Providing strong clinical leadership across the home.

  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality dementia care.

  • Monitoring care standards and ensuring residents receive safe, effective and compassionate care.

  • Supporting care planning, risk assessments and clinical governance.

  • Contributing to audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

  • Supporting staff development, supervision and performance management.

  • Working closely with residents, relatives and healthcare professionals.

  • Ensuring clinical and regulatory standards are consistently maintained.

  • Acting as a positive role model and providing visible leadership across the service.

About You

We are looking for an experienced RGN who is confident providing clinical leadership within an elderly care setting.

You will ideally have:

  • RGN qualification with an active NMC PIN – essential.

  • Previous Deputy Manager, Clinical Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead experience within an elderly care/nursing home setting.

  • Extensive experience working within elderly nursing care.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of dementia care.

  • Experience leading and supporting nursing and care teams.

  • A strong understanding of CQC requirements, clinical governance and care standards.

  • Experience with care planning, risk assessments, audits and quality processes.

  • The ability to provide visible, confident and effective clinical leadership.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A genuine passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Please note: Candidates coming solely from a hospital or community nursing background without significant elderly care home experience will not be suitable for this position.

Interview Process

Stage 1: Interview with the Home Manager – competency and question-and-answer based.

Stage 2: Interview with the Regional Director – scenario-based interview, including approximately 15 minutes to prepare and complete scenarios.

 

Location 

The home is based in Hailsham, East Sussex and is commutable from Eastbourne, Polegate, Uckfield, Heathfield, Lewes, Seaford, Bexhill-on-Sea, Battle, Newhaven, Crowborough and surrounding areas.
