Compass Associates is working in partnership with a valued client to recruit an experienced Director of Care Homes. This senior appointment will take responsibility for overseeing a group of well-performing elderly care homes across West Sussex. The organisation is well established, highly regarded within the local community, and known for delivering compassionate, person-centred care. This role offers the opportunity to build on an already strong care provision, ensuring standards remain high while supporting the continued development of both services and leadership teams. As Director of Care Homes, you will provide clear strategic direction across the portfolio, supporting and constructively challenging Registered Managers to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality care.
About the Role
In this role, you will combine strategic leadership with a visible, hands-on approach across the homes. You will set clear expectations around quality, performance, and culture, while supporting managers to lead confident, well-run services. Working closely with the wider senior leadership team, you will contribute to organisational planning, maintain strong oversight of compliance and performance, and build effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners. A core part of the role will be developing leadership capability, embedding best practice, and ensuring residents consistently receive dignified, compassionate care.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will already be operating at director level or in a comparable senior strategic role within elderly care. You will be a credible, values-driven leader with a strong track record of overseeing successful care services and developing high-performing management teams. You will be passionate about care quality, confident in decision-making, and motivated by making a genuine difference for residents and staff alike.

This role oversees a portfolio of care homes across West Sussex including: Chichester, Littlehampton, Worthing, Midhurst, Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, New Haven, Eastbourne and Uckfield.
