Home Manager | Luxury Elderly Care | Commissioning & Growth

East Kent, England
£80,000 – £90,000 + Benefits
Full-Time | Permanent

An Opportunity to Take a Premium Care Home to the Next Level

Are you an experienced Home Manager who knows how to build a successful care home, not simply maintain one?

Compass Associates are partnering with an established elderly care provider to recruit an experienced Home Manager for a modern, purpose-built nursing, residential and dementia care service in Kent. The home is relatively new and has successfully moved through its initial commissioning phase. The foundations are in place; the next challenge is to take the service forward, build occupancy towards capacity and establish it as one of the leading premium care homes in its local market.

The Role

As Home Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the operational, clinical, commercial and cultural performance of the home. A major focus will be continuing the home’s growth journey, increasing occupancy while ensuring that quality and

resident experience remain at the centre of every decision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the home towards full and sustainable occupancy
  • Driving enquiries, conversions, admissions and local market presence
  • Developing relationships within the local community and self-funder market
  • Maintaining strong regulatory compliance and delivering consistently high standards of care
  • Creating a stable workforce with minimal reliance on agency
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining a high-performing management and care team
  • Leading, coaching and holding teams accountable for performance
  • Maintaining strong clinical governance and quality assurance
  • Using operational and quality data to identify risks, trends and opportunities
  • Managing budgets, staffing levels and overall commercial performance
  • Building a strong reputation amongst residents, families and the wider community
  • Leading sales and marketing activity alongside the operational requirements of the home
  • Implementing and embedding positive organisational change

You’ll have the autonomy to lead the service strategically while remaining visible and operationally involved with your team.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for a proven Home Manager, ideally someone who has previously taken a large care home through commissioning or significant occupancy growth. You’ll understand the challenges that come with growing a relatively new service and will be able to demonstrate how you have successfully built occupancy without compromising quality, culture or workforce stability.

Previous experience within the premium/private-pay market will be particularly important. The successful candidate needs to understand the expectations of self-funding residents and families and be comfortable representing and promoting a high-quality service within its local market. Just as importantly, you’ll be an inspirational and credible leader. The client is looking for someone values-driven, compassionate and authentic who can operate both strategically and operationally and has experience successfully leading teams through change.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Registered Home Manager within elderly care
  • Experience managing a sizeable nursing, residential and dementia care service
  • Previous commissioning or significant occupancy-growth experience
  • Strong track record with CQC and evidence of achieving positive regulatory outcomes
  • Experience growing a home towards high/full occupancy
  • Strong understanding of the premium/private-pay care market
  • Evidence of building stable teams and reducing reliance on agency
  • Strong clinical governance and quality-management knowledge
  • Commercial understanding of occupancy, fees, staffing, budgets and overall home performance
  • Ability to lead sales, marketing and local relationship-building activity
  • Strong leadership and workforce-development experience
  • Confident using data to inform operational decisions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills

The brief specifically calls for someone able to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, alongside the commercial, quality and leadership responsibilities of the position.

The Candidate

This position would suit someone currently working as a:

Registered Home Manager | General Manager | Commissioning Home Manager | Senior Home Manager

You may already be managing a successful premium service but want the opportunity to take ownership of a home that still has genuine growth potential. Alternatively, you may have successfully commissioned a home previously and enjoy the challenge of taking a service from its early stages through to strong occupancy, an established workforce and an excellent local reputation.

What’s On Offer?

£80,000 – £90,000 basic salary
Established elderly care provider
Modern, premium care environment
Significant autonomy and ownership
Opportunity to lead the next stage of a home’s growth
Strong focus on quality, culture and commercial performance
Opportunity to build and develop your own high-performing team

Why Consider It?

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit a full home and maintain the status quo. The service has already been established, but there is still a significant journey ahead. You’ll have the opportunity to shape its next chapter, growing occupancy, strengthening the team, developing its reputation and ultimately creating a successful, sustainable home known for both excellent care and strong commercial performance.

If you’ve successfully commissioned, grown or transformed a care home and want an opportunity where your impact will be genuinely visible, I’d be interested in having a confidential conversation.
