Regional Support Manager - Elderly Care

Central Belt, with travel across Scotland

£65,000 - £70,000 + £2,500 Car Allowance

Full-Time - Permanent

Compass Associates are working in partnership with a growing care provider to recruit a Regional Support Manager to support its portfolio of care homes across Scotland.

This is a hands-on operational opportunity for a nurse-qualified care professional with a strong track record of improving care services and supporting Home Managers through operational and regulatory challenges.

Working closely with the Regional Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening service quality, improving Care Inspectorate grades and developing the leadership capability of Home Managers. The organisation is continuing to grow, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Scottish portfolio while taking on new challenges across multiple services.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is not a remote quality assurance role. You will spend approximately 60-70% of your time within the homes, working directly with Home Managers and their teams to address challenges, implement improvement plans and sustain high standards of care.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing practical operational support to Home Managers across the portfolio
  • Identifying areas of risk and underperformance, developing action plans and monitoring progress
  • Driving improvements in Care Inspectorate grades, regulatory compliance and clinical governance
  • Supporting services through inspections, management transitions and periods of operational pressure
  • Coaching and challenging Home Managers to strengthen leadership, accountability and team performance
  • Supporting employee investigations, disciplinary processes and other HR matters alongside Home Managers
  • Delivering training and identifying development needs across management and care teams
  • Reviewing audits, incidents, complaints and performance data to identify trends and implement improvements
  • Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, staffing and effective resource allocation
  • Monitoring occupancy and other operational performance indicators
  • Sharing best practice and promoting consistent standards across the portfolio
  • Building effective relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Supporting the Regional Manager with operational planning and the continued growth of the organisation

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will be an experienced, nurse-qualified care professional who combines strong operational knowledge with the ability to lead improvement across multiple services.

You should be confident working alongside Home Managers, providing constructive challenge and practical support while ensuring they retain ownership of their services.

Essential experience and attributes include:

  • Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN

  • Significant operational experience within elderly care

  • Previous experience as a Home Manager, Regional Support Manager, Peripatetic Manager or in a comparable senior operational role

  • A demonstrable track record of improving Care Inspectorate grades

  • Strong understanding of Scottish care regulations, clinical governance and quality assurance

  • Experience managing service improvement plans and supporting homes through regulatory scrutiny

  • Experience coaching and developing managers and senior care teams

  • Understanding of HR processes, workforce management and employee relations

  • Commercial awareness, including occupancy, staffing and overall service performance

  • Strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills

  • Confidence using digital systems and performance data to inform decisions

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Scotland

Previous multi-site experience would be advantageous, particularly for candidates who have supported more than one home or gained exposure to regional and peripatetic responsibilities.

THE PACKAGE

  • Salary of £65,000 - £70,000, depending on experience

  • £2,500 car allowance included within the advertised package

  • Full-time, permanent position

  • Opportunity to influence quality and operational performance across a growing Scottish portfolio

  • Scope to develop alongside the organisation as its services and responsibilities expand
