Registered Care Manager | New Retirement Village Development | Later Living Sector
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE + Benefits

About the Opportunity
Compass Associates are working in partnership with an innovative operator within the later living sector to recruit a Registered Care Manager for a brand-new retirement village development in Shropshire.
This is a unique opportunity to join a newly opening community and play a key role in establishing and developing the care service from the ground up.
Working closely alongside the Village General Manager and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will lead the development of the care provision, oversee the CQC registration process and help shape a resident-focused culture centred around independence, wellbeing and exceptional service.
Unlike many Registered Manager opportunities, this role offers the chance to build a service from the beginning, with resident care needs expected to be relatively light initially as the community establishes itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and future growth of the care service
- Manage and oversee the CQC registration process
- Recruit, develop and support the care team
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, legislation and best practice
- Develop policies, procedures and governance frameworks
- Build strong relationships with residents, families and external stakeholders
- Support care assessments, care planning and ongoing reviews
- Maintain high standards of person-centred care and resident wellbeing
- Participate in an on-call rota and provide hands-on support when required
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to support the wider resident experience
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Care Manager within a regulated care environment
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience within domiciliary care, extra care, retirement living, supported living, residential care or similar settings
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Commercial awareness and understanding of service development
- Passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or working towards
Location: Based in Newport, Shropshire, Suitable for candidates located across: Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Market Drayton, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Chester, Stoke-on-Trent, Wrexham Surrounding areas within approximately 45 minutes of Newport
