Registered Manager | Domiciliary Care | Shropshire

Salary       £35,000 - £38,000 per annum

Are you a passionate care professional ready to take the next step in your career?

Do you have the leadership skills and vision to inspire a team, deliver outstanding care and make a real difference to people's lives?

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Service Manager to lead an established domiciliary care service in Shrewsbury. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Home Care Manager or Deputy Manager to take ownership of a service, develop a strong team and ensure people receive high-quality, person-centred support in the comfort of their own homes.

The Role

As Service Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running, quality and performance of the service. You will lead a team of approximately 30 employees, supported by a Team Coordinator and a wider operational support structure.

The service currently delivers around 400 hours of care per week, offering a combination of traditional home-care visits and innovative digital support, including video prompting. With positive feedback from people supported, families and local-authority partners, you will build on this strong foundation, maintaining high standards while exploring opportunities for sustainable growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the service, ensuring safe, reliable and person-centred care.

  • Leading, motivating and developing the Team Coordinator and support-worker team, promoting a positive and supportive working culture.

  • Ensuring support plans, staff training, supervision and quality assurance processes remain up to date.

  • Working with the risk and compliance team to maintain CQC readiness, support audits and ensure regulatory requirements are met.

  • Promoting safeguarding, health and safety and best practice, responding appropriately to incidents, concerns and changes in people's needs.

  • Overseeing recruitment, induction, staff performance, retention, absence management and staffing cover.

  • Monitoring care hours, service capacity and scheduling, responding effectively to changing needs and local-authority requirements.

  • Building strong relationships with people receiving support, families, commissioners, local authorities and other professionals.

  • Participating in the on-call rota, currently shared with the Team Coordinator on a fortnightly rotation.

  • Identifying opportunities to grow and develop the service while maintaining quality, financial sustainability and staff stability.

You will benefit from support from a Head of Operations and dedicated central teams covering HR, recruitment, training and development, risk and compliance, IT and other business functions.

About You

We are seeking a confident, organised and compassionate care professional who understands the demands of managing a domiciliary care service and can lead a team effectively.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience managing a domiciliary or home-care service, preferably with around two years' experience as a Home Care Manager or Deputy Manager.

  • A strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, quality assurance and compliance.

  • Experience overseeing staff teams, care delivery, recruitment, training and performance management.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and respond calmly and effectively to operational challenges.

  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working with local authorities, families and other care-sector stakeholders.

  • An understanding of local-authority-funded care packages and the operational requirements of a home-care service.

Previous Registered Manager experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Experienced Deputy Managers or Care Managers ready to take the next step will also be considered, provided they can demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a service.

If you are not already registered, you must be willing to undertake the CQC Registered Manager application process and complete any relevant management qualifications required. Training and internal support will be available, and you must be able to meet the requirements of the CQC Registered Manager interview where applicable.

What’s on Offer?

  • A competitive salary of £35,000 per annum, with flexibility up to £37,000–£38,000 for the right candidate.

  • The opportunity to work alongside an experienced Head of Operations and established central support teams.

  • The chance to lead an established service with positive stakeholder feedback and a stable workforce.

  • Access to training and support to strengthen your management and regulatory expertise.

  • The opportunity to maintain excellent standards of care while helping the service develop sustainably.
