Salary: £23.50 per hour | Circa £44,928 per annum
Contracted Hours: 36.75 hours per week | Night Shifts (7:45pm – 8:00am) | Alternate Weekends Required

Overview

Compass Associates are delighted to be partnering with a well-established elderly care provider in the recruitment of a Registered General Nurse (RGN) for a purpose-built nursing home in Northallerton.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and clinically driven Registered Nurse who enjoys delivering high-quality care during the night. Working alongside an experienced care team, you will ensure residents receive safe, effective and person-centred nursing care while maintaining the smooth running of the home throughout each shift.

About the Role

As a Registered General Nurse (RGN), you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care throughout the night.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans.
  • Administer medication safely in accordance with NMC guidelines.
  • Monitor residents' physical health and respond promptly to any clinical changes.
  • Work closely with Care Assistants and Senior Care staff to ensure residents' needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and handovers.
  • Promote dignity, independence and choice for every resident.
  • Liaise with GPs, emergency services and other healthcare professionals when required.

This is a permanent position working 36.75 hours per week on night shifts (7:45pm – 8:00am), including alternate weekends.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care.
  • Administer medication and maintain safe medicines management.
  • Complete clinical assessments and update care plans.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Support residents requiring general nursing, dementia and end-of-life care.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and shift handovers.
  • Supervise and support the night care team.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, relatives and external healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, compliant and inspection-ready service.

Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC PIN.
  • Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
  • Previous experience within an elderly nursing home setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Good understanding of medication management and clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of CQC regulations and person-centred care.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting the wider team during night shifts.
