The opportunity
Compass Associates is supporting an established homecare provider with the appointment of a Registered Operations Manager for a large Liverpool-based domiciliary care service.
This is a senior Registered Manager position responsible for overseeing the operational and quality performance of a busy and complex branch.
You will lead an established office-based management and support team of approximately 30 people, with access to dedicated HR, recruitment, finance and quality functions.
This is not a traditional hands-on Registered Manager position. The successful candidate will lead through the existing management structure, manage performance through KPIs and ensure the service continues to operate safely, effectively and in line with CQC requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Hold CQC registration and take overall responsibility for the safety, quality, compliance and operational performance of the service.
- Lead, develop and manage an office-based team of approximately 30 people.
- Oversee the safe and effective delivery of a large and complex domiciliary care service.
- Lead through managers, delegate effectively and hold team members accountable for agreed actions.
- Monitor service performance through KPIs, operational reports and quality data.
- Maintain compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding requirements, contractual standards and internal policies.
- Ensure the service remains inspection-ready through effective audits, care planning, risk management and record keeping.
- Oversee complaints, safeguarding concerns, incidents and service-improvement plans.
- Monitor recruitment, retention, training, absence, compliance and workforce capacity.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, escalating financial risks where required.
- Maintain positive relationships with service users, families, commissioners, local authorities and healthcare professionals.
- Work alongside the Operations Director to support service development and growth.
Candidate requirements
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Area Manager, Regional Manager or Operations Manager within domiciliary care.
- Experience managing a large team and a complex, high-volume homecare service.
- Previous experience holding CQC registration is strongly preferred.
- A Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent management qualification.
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, compliance and person-centred care.
- Experience managing operational performance through KPIs, reports and structured action plans.
- Able to lead through other managers rather than becoming involved in every day-to-day task.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several operational priorities simultaneously.
- Experience of audits, complaints, safeguarding investigations and CQC inspection preparation.
- Confident managing budgets, staffing resources and workforce performance.
- Strong communication skills and the credibility to engage with commissioners, senior leaders, employees and external stakeholders.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Candidates currently working at Area, Regional or Operations Manager level will be considered, provided they have strong hands-on operational experience and are willing to hold CQC registration.
Salary and benefits
- Salary of £50,000 - £55,000, depending on experience.
