Are you an experienced theatre or healthcare operations professional with strong commercial awareness and excellent stakeholder management skills?

Compass Associates is recruiting on behalf of an established private hospital looking for a Theatre & Capacity Manager to take ownership of its theatre diary and maximise utilisation across a busy surgical environment.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role sitting between the commercial and clinical teams, with responsibility for ensuring theatre capacity is used effectively and patients progress smoothly through to surgery.

You will manage the theatre diary, coordinate consultant and anaesthetist availability, minimise cancellations and proactively identify opportunities to fill vacant capacity. The role is highly relationship-driven, requiring someone who is confident dealing with consultants, PAs, anaesthetists and internal teams, whilst bringing pace, energy and a commercial mindset to the role.

The key requirement is someone who combines operational capability with commercial awareness, energy and a relationship-led approach.

You will also lead a small team and play a key role in improving theatre utilisation, consultant experience and overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and optimise the theatre diary, maximising utilisation and commercial value.
• Manage consultant availability, anaesthetic cover and surgical bookings.
• Minimise cancellations and rapidly backfill vacant theatre capacity.
• Coordinate pre-operative requirements, equipment and special requests.
• Act as the key link between sales, clinical and theatre teams.
• Build strong relationships with consultants, anaesthetists and their teams.
• Lead the two-week theatre planning process and ensure outstanding actions are completed.
• Manage theatre-related invoicing and commercial administration.
• Lead and develop a small Theatre Operations team.
• Identify and resolve operational issues quickly and proactively.

Essential Experience

• Experience within theatre, surgical, hospital or healthcare operations.
• Strong understanding of theatre scheduling, capacity or surgical pathways.
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of utilisation and revenue.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident, responsive and comfortable working at pace.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of personal ownership.
• Experience working with consultants or senior clinical stakeholders.
• Experience managing or coordinating a small team.

• £55,000 base salary (depending on experience)
