Compass Associates are delighted to be supporting a well-established elderly care provider with the confidential recruitment of a Clinical Registered Manager for a luxury, medium-sized residential and nursing home in Leicester.
The home provides residential, dementia, dementia nursing and general nursing care, supporting older people with a range of care and clinical needs. The service is currently rated Good by CQC.
Offering a salary of £70,000 – £75,000 per annum, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, nurse-qualified Registered Manager to take ownership of an established service and play a key role in shaping its future direction.
The successful individual will be responsible for the overall operational and clinical leadership of the home, with a strong focus on quality, governance, culture, staff retention, resident experience and continuous improvement.
This appointment will suit a manager who enjoys being highly visible within a service, building strong relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues, and creating clear structure and accountability across the home.
The provider is looking for someone who can bring fresh energy and leadership to the service, challenge established ways of working where required and develop a culture where teams understand expectations and take ownership of delivering consistently high standards.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced Clinical Registered Manager / Nursing Home Manager with a strong background in elderly nursing care.
You will be a confident, positive and engaging leader with the ability to lead change while taking your team with you.
Previous experience of turnaround, culture management and service improvement will be highly advantageous, alongside a proven track record of maintaining strong CQC standards and delivering positive outcomes for residents.
The successful manager will need to combine strong clinical and operational leadership with commercial awareness and excellent people-management skills.
The preferred leadership style is open, positive and empowering, with an emphasis on leading by example rather than simply directing others. The provider is specifically looking for a manager who is comfortable being challenged and who adopts a “show, not tell” approach to leadership.
Requirements – Essential
- Nurse qualified with an active NMC registration – RGN
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Nursing Home Manager or Clinical Home Manager within elderly care.
- Strong experience managing a nursing and residential care service.
- A strong understanding of CQC regulations, clinical governance and quality assurance.
- Proven leadership and team-development experience.
- Experience supporting services through change, improvement or cultural transformation.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, MCA, DoLS, medication management and person-centred care.
- Experience managing staff performance, supervision and development.
- Ability to build a positive and accountable culture within a care home environment.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, occupancy and operational performance.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and external partners.
- Highly organised, proactive and visible leadership style.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills.
- Passion for delivering high-quality care and positive outcomes for residents.
The client has identified strong CQC experience, leadership and team development, commercial awareness and stakeholder management as key requirements for the role.

- Build strong relationships with residents and their families.
- Maintain effective relationships with healthcare professionals, regulators and external stakeholders.
- Maintain oversight of safeguarding, complaints, incidents and clinical risk.
- Support the commercial performance of the service, including occupancy and budget management.
- Promote the home within the local community and support sustainable occupancy.
- Work collaboratively with regional and senior leadership colleagues.
- Ensure the resident experience remains central to all operational and clinical decision-making.
The initial priorities for the successful manager will include establishing stronger rhythm and routine, improving retention, embracing change, strengthening governance, building relationships with teams and relatives, and increasing leadership visibility throughout the home.
