Compass Associates are delighted to be supporting a well-established elderly care provider in the recruitment of a Deputy Manager for one of their large care homes in Nottingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader to join an established management team within a busy elderly care service. Supporting the Registered Home Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operational leadership of the home, ensuring high standards of care, governance and staff performance are consistently maintained.
This is a non-clinical Deputy Manager position and would suit an experienced Deputy Manager, Care Manager or senior leader who enjoys leading teams, driving standards and supporting the overall performance of a large care home without clinical responsibilities.
The home provides high-quality residential, nursing and specialist dementia care and is currently on an exciting journey of continuous improvement, making this an excellent time to join a progressive provider committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for residents.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have previous leadership experience within an elderly care home environment and will be passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
You will be a confident and approachable leader who enjoys supporting others, developing teams and improving operational performance. You will be comfortable making decisions, managing performance issues where necessary and ensuring staff remain accountable while maintaining a positive and supportive working culture.
This role requires someone who is visible within the service, leads by example and works collaboratively with the Registered Home Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Whilst this is a non-clinical role, previous experience within elderly care and a strong understanding of dementia care, safeguarding and CQC regulations are essential.
Requirements – Essential
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Care Manager or Senior Leader within an elderly care home.
- Strong operational management experience within residential and/or dementia services.
- Excellent understanding of CQC regulations and governance.
- Experience managing staff performance, supervision and development.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning and quality assurance.
- Confident managing challenging situations and difficult conversations.
- Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
- Passion for delivering person-centred care and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience deputising for a Registered Manager.
- Experience supporting successful CQC inspections.
- Experience working within larger elderly care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Home Manager with the operational management of the home.
- Deputise for the Registered Home Manager when required.
- Lead and develop Senior Care Assistants and Care Coordinators.
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding and organisational policies.
- Support audits, governance processes and continuous quality improvement.
- Oversee care planning, documentation and operational standards.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff through supervision and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and the wider management team.
- Participate in the shared on-call management rota.

The recruitment process will consist of an initial telephone interview followed by a face-to-face interview with the senior leadership team.
