Compass Associates are delighted to be working with an established and growing care provider who are looking to appoint an experienced Head of Quality & Compliance to provide quality assurance, governance and regulatory oversight across a group of Nursing & Residential Homes.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced care-sector quality professional looking to take on a senior, multi-site position with direct exposure to the senior leadership team. The organisation has a strong focus on quality and places significant autonomy with its experienced Home Managers. They are therefore looking for someone who can provide effective oversight, constructive challenge and support, whilst recognising that different homes and management teams may require different approaches.

The Role

As Head of Quality & Compliance, you will have responsibility for quality assurance, governance and regulatory oversight across the group, working closely with Home Managers and senior leadership. You will undertake regular visits across the services, identifying themes and trends, highlighting areas where practice could be improved and supporting managers to maintain and develop high standards of care.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously, enjoys being visible within services and can strike the right balance between building strong relationships and providing appropriate challenge.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing quality assurance and governance oversight across the group
  • Conducting regular provider and quality visits across the services
  • Undertaking audits, reviews and ongoing quality monitoring
  • Identifying quality themes, trends, risks and areas of good practice
  • Supporting homes with CQC preparation, readiness and inspection activity
  • Monitoring quality improvement plans and ensuring actions are implemented, embedded and sustained
  • Providing constructive challenge to Home Managers where improvements are required
  • Supporting managers to identify and implement appropriate improvements
  • Ensuring regulatory and quality requirements are understood and maintained
  • Reviewing governance information and identifying areas requiring further attention
  • Managing or supporting escal
  • ated complaints, concerns and quality issues
  • Maintaining clear records and evidence of quality oversight
  • Working with external partners to provide independent quality challenge where required
  • Providing regular updates and assurance to the senior leadership team

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an established quality professional who has already worked within a social care environment and has a strong understanding of quality assurance, auditing and regulatory compliance.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant experience within a quality-focused role in social care
  • Strong experience of auditing, monitoring and quality improvement
  • Excellent knowledge of CQC regulations and regulatory requirements
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and relevant social care legislation
  • Experience supporting services through CQC inspections and preparation
  • The confidence to challenge experienced Home Managers constructively
  • The ability to identify risks, themes and trends and recommend appropriate improvements

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a senior quality position within an established care provider where quality, governance and regulatory oversight are highly visible at senior leadership level. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced Home Managers, providing support and constructive challenge whilst allowing them to retain ownership of their individual homes.

You will have the autonomy to use your own experience and judgement, rather than being expected to impose a rigid, centralised approach across the group. The ability to understand different services, identify where support or challenge is required and work collaboratively with established management teams will be key to success.
