Are you an experienced Peripatetic Manager, Regional Support Manager or Home Manager looking for an opportunity to support multiple services within a growing elderly care provider?

Do you have a strong background in CQC compliance, operational improvements and supporting Home Managers to maintain high standards of care?

Compass Associates are working with an established, family-run elderly care provider to recruit an experienced Peripatetic Manager, based in Lancashire with UK-wide travel.

This is an opportunity to join a growing organisation, providing hands-on operational support across its portfolio of care homes, while working closely with senior leadership to improve standards and support continued expansion.

The Provider

The organisation currently operates eight elderly care homes across England, providing residential, dementia and nursing care, with further acquisitions planned throughout 2027. With occupancy sitting at approximately 96% and a strong regulatory track record, the provider is looking to strengthen its operational team as the business continues to grow. The organisation has plans to expand to approximately 11 homes, creating an opportunity for the successful candidate to support both established services and newly acquired homes.

The Role

As Peripatetic Manager, you will work alongside Home Managers and senior leadership, providing practical operational support across the portfolio. The role will involve visiting services, identifying areas for improvement, supporting compliance and providing additional management support where required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Home Managers with the day-to-day operational management of their services.
  • Maintaining strong CQC, safeguarding, compliance and quality assurance standards.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective action plans.
  • Providing hands-on support to homes experiencing operational, staffing or performance challenges.
  • Monitoring occupancy, agency usage, staffing levels and financial performance.
  • Supporting and developing Home Managers and senior management teams.
  • Reviewing care documentation, medication management, incidents and internal audits.
  • Supporting newly acquired homes with operational improvements, integration and the implementation of group standards.
  • Working closely with the Operations Director and Operations Managers to maintain consistent standards across the portfolio.

About You

We're looking for an experienced care leader with:

  • Previous experience as a Peripatetic Manager, Regional Support Manager, Regional Manager or an experienced Home Manager looking to progress.
  • A strong background within elderly residential, dementia and/or nursing care.
  • Experience maintaining or improving CQC ratings and care standards.
  • A proven track record of supporting operational improvements and managing challenging services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, quality assurance and care governance.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring and developing management teams.
  • Good commercial awareness, including occupancy, staffing budgets and agency expenditure.
  • A practical, approachable leadership style with the confidence to challenge and support managers where required.
  • The flexibility to travel nationally and stay overnight when required.

A Registered Nurse qualification would be advantageous, particularly given the organisation's nursing provision, although strong operational experience within elderly care will also be considered.

Location

The position will be based in Lancashire, with regular UK-wide travel across the organisation's care home portfolio.

Candidates must be comfortable travelling between services and staying overnight when required.

A flexible working base may be considered depending on the successful candidate's location and operational requirements.
