Registered Manager – Domiciliary Care & Supported Living

Location: St Helens, Merseyside
Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 per annum + On-Call Payments (DOE & Service Coverage)
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established, family-run provider of domiciliary care and supported living services to recruit a Registered Manager for their St Helens branch.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation that has recently returned to a strong period of growth following the award of new contracts and an increase in local authority packages.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, developing the existing team, and supporting the continued growth of the service.

The Opportunity

The Registered Manager will lead an established branch currently delivering approximately 1,500 care hours per week.

The service primarily supports older adults and individuals living with dementia, alongside a small supported living provision supporting adults with acquired brain injuries and complex needs.

The successful candidate will initially focus on maintaining high-quality care standards, strengthening operational performance, and supporting the existing office team. There is also the opportunity to oversee a neighbouring satellite office in Warrington for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold CQC Registered Manager status for the domiciliary and supported living service
  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership across the branch
  • Ensure high standards of care quality, governance and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare for and lead future CQC inspections
  • Support and develop the coordination team through coaching and performance management
  • Oversee care planning, risk management and service delivery
  • Liaise with local authority commissioners and external stakeholders
  • Support recruitment, retention and development of care staff
  • Promote a positive, values-led culture across the branch
  • Participate in the on-call rota as an escalation point
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to support the continued growth of the service

Team Structure

The Registered Manager will oversee an established operational team including:

  • 3 Care Coordinators
  • Dedicated Recruitment Administrator
  • In-house HR support
  • Quality Manager
  • 70+ care staff

The branch benefits from strong internal support functions, allowing the Registered Manager to focus on operational leadership, quality, and team development.

Candidate Requirements

The client is seeking an experienced, autonomous Registered Manager with a strong background in domiciliary care and a passion for delivering high-quality services.

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager within domiciliary care
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and quality assurance
  • Proven operational leadership experience
  • Ability to manage and develop office-based and frontline teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience liaising with local authorities and external professionals
  • Full UK driving licence

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience overseeing supported living services
  • Experience managing mixed domiciliary and supported living operations
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal senior management oversight
  • Experience leading established services through periods of growth

Strong Deputy Managers who have substantial experience deputising for a Registered Manager may also be considered, although previous Registered Manager experience is preferred.

Package & Benefits

  • Up to £40,000 per annum (salary flexibility available for exceptional candidates)
  • £37.50 per night on-call payment
  • 24 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays (32 days total)
  • Flexible use of bank holidays
  • Supportive, family-run working environment

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to join a provider experiencing renewed growth and investment
  • Stable service with established office infrastructure
  • Strong support from senior leadership and quality teams
  • Genuine autonomy to lead the branch and shape operational improvements.

This role would suit an experienced Registered Manager looking to join a supportive, family-run organisation where quality of care is the priority, while also contributing to the continued growth and success of a well-established service.
